Description

Mechanism of Action of Drugs: Ambroxol stimulates the release of some surfactants which come with an anti-glue factor. This factor helps to reduce the mucus sticking to the bronchial wall and also gives protection against infections.
Guaifenesin acts on the respiratory tract secretions by reducing their viscosity or loosen the mucus – thus expelling it out.
Levosalbutamol helps in relaxing the muscles In airways and also improves the airflow from the lungs in both the directions.

Contraindications and Caution

Patients with the following conditions are suggested to seek advice from their health care professionals before using Aqukof  LS syrup:

• Hypersenstivity to any of the ingredients used In Aqukof LS syrup such as Ambroxol, Guaifenesin, and Levosalbutamol or salbutamol
• Nephrolithiasis

 

Side and Adverse Effects

The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of this syrup. It is generally well tolerated when taken in the prescribed dosage guidelines. More common ones are generally mild and may include:

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Skin rash
• Itching
• Bronchitis
• Dizziness
• Pain
• Pharyngitis
• Rhinitis

 

How to Use

Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor.
Aqukof LS Syrup 100ml is meant for oral administration. Shake the bottle well before consuming. Dosage can be administered with the cap that comes along with the container.
Avoid missing or forgetting a dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it is time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Do not consume two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
Aqukof  LS Syrup 100ml may be taken with or without food.
Dosage as suggested by your doctor or follow the instructions given on the syrup container or on the prescription.

Overdosage

Avoid taking more than the prescribed dosage. In case of an accidental overdose, look for any new symptoms. If you observe any, promptly seek medical advice or report it to the nearby poison control center.

• Many times this drug is taken on an as needed basis
• Do not take this drug if you had an allergy to this or similar drugs in the past
• Seek help if you are having an allergic reaction to the drug
• Alert your doctor if you are taking blood-thinning medicines such as warfarin
• Avoid Alcohol

Warnings and Precautions : Take Aqukof LS syrup only on the advice of a medical practitioner. Dosage adjustment or complete avoidance of the medication may be required in the following conditions:

Kidney: Caution advised among people with renal problems. If you have any, it is highly recommended that you consult your doctor before the consumption of this medicine.

Liver: Caution advised among people with renal problems. If you have any, it is highly recommended that you consult your doctor before the consumption of this medicine.

Pregnancy: Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant except on a medical advise.

Lactation: Do not use this medicine if you are a nursing mother until unless suggested by your doctor.

Driving: Do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may need your alertness because this medication may impair your thinking or reactions.

Drug Interactions: Caution always advised when used with other medicines therefore, tell your doctor about your current list of medicines including vitamins, herbal supplements and over the counter medicines which you may start or stop.

Precautions

• Keep the medicine away from out of sight and reach of children.
• Store in a cool and hygienic place away from heat and moisture.
• Do not use Aqukof  LS Syrup 100ml beyond its expiry.
• Do not use the syrup if the cap seal is broken before its use.

Category C: Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.
